A Kim-Away!

This week, Kim Hughes announced on her blog that she was parting ways with Cornish Heritage Farms, the company she has been designing exclusive lines of stamps for over the past few years (you can read about it here). Kim is a good friend of mine and is as wonderful a person as I know. And her stamps are amaze-o-rific! She hand draws all of her designs...no computers used. This recent set of stamps are my new favorite.

And so today, to kick off your weekend, we have a special...

...Kim Hughes Give-Away x2!

Which I may have dubbed a "Kim-Away". (Lame...I know, but it's 1:02 AM). So, first up we have a delightful set of Kim's hand drawn stamps. These can be used on acrylic blocks, but are made from high quality red rubber for a perfectly concise image every time. Up for grabs is the I Thee Wed set. How cute is that wedding cake?! This set can be purchased on the Cornish Heritage Farms site. But don't buy it until you know if you won or not!

.....................................................................................................................

And, you may also know, that Kim is the Design Team lead for Scrapbook & Cards Today magazine. This mag, which used to only be available in Canada, is now available for all of us! Woot!

You can see Kim's cards, layouts and other creations in this magazine as well as a gaggle of other fabulous inspiration from the rest of their talented team and from contributors just like you! This week they made their Spring 2009 issue available for purchase and FREE download from their site. Free download? Yep. That's a price anyone can afford.

Up for grabs today is the Winter issue. I have a copy and I was so completely inspired by the projects within it's pages. You will be dog-earring this issue...I promise.

Please tell us what you think about magazines offering both a print version and a downloadable version of their issues. Do you like the "green" factor? Or do you love the smell of fresh magazine pages in the morning?

Leave a comment on this post by tomorrow (Saturday) at Noon EST to be eligible to win either of these fabulous prizes. These prizes are both available for shipping outside of the US.

Wow! I'm the first poster! I like to hold the magazine. BUT...I love that this magazine is downloadable for free! That is just amazing in my book! I downloaded this fabulous issue a couple days ago and LOVE it!

Cool stamps! I like that there's a new mag to choose from. It's great that it's online, too, but I still love to have a magazine to stick in my bag for long waits. :)

I just recently got engaged and came across those stamps....I immediately fell in LOVE!!! Would love some chic stamps to play with to create some wedding projects!!

I have to have my paper magazines. These are the only thing we are allowed to look at while at work. No craft/scrap websites... :( Though I like the idea of green magazines, the pages would take forever to load. So for now as long as we recycle them I am happy with paper.

I like to be "green" but not with my magazines I really still want to see a print copy. Very fun stamps!!

Thanks for the link to the magazine - it's certainly a beautiful publication. I absolutely prefer a paper copy of my magazines. I like to flick through it whenever I feel like it and not be stuck at the computer.

I love to have a new magazine in my hands to look through for the next couple of weeks, but a downloadable magazine is great as well. Hey, I am on board for whatever still brings us great scrappy goodness and inspiration! Either form works for me!

I do love a good mag, its my little treat. I do prefer the real thing to the downloaded - plus the kids bug me when Im on the computer. A mag I can shut my self in a bubble bath and have a little piece of quiet

Great giveaway, thanks for the chance to win. And, thanks for honoring Kim. I love her designs.

I don't mind electronic copies of magazines, because here in the uk I love to get foreign mags, but sometimes despite having a subscription they don't arrive :(. I would just love to see the inspiration, and they're much smaller to keep than hardcopeis.

I love having a magazine to take with me when I am places that I need to wait but I also read articles and such online all the time and since i can't afford them all I like checking out magazines online and then deciding which ones I would really get the most out of owning.

Theresa said...

I prefer paper magazines so I can lounge around in the bed at night and get dreamy over all the cool papers and trinkets and zzzzz.....

I am definitely checking out the free download though - what's not to love about that?

And those stamps are gorgeous - love that bride and groom! (Okay, I love all of them) Today's my birthday - does that make me a winner? :)

Tara said...

it's wonderful that the magazine companies are providing a green alternative, but for myself, I am not interested in reading a magazine online.

Aimee said...

i'm going to check out the magazine now! the stamps are adorable!

Tanis said...

Oh fun! I've always loved Kim's work...and her stamps are so fun..they've been a favourite of mine since her first release :)
off to check out that download!!

Jenny said...

I like to be green as well but I really really like to have my magazine in paper copy. Something about flipping the pages, dog tagging them, reading while I drink my coffee....

Kimberly said...

Love the stamps. As for magazines, I like to feel the pages between my fingers!

Sue Bone said...

I like to be able to read my magazine wherever I want, so paper copy for me.

Jingle said...

I love Kim's work and I can't wait to see what all she does in the future!!!

Amber said...

Those stamps are great! Best wishes to Kim.
Honestly I love that they offer a downloadable version of the magazine but I love to hold a fresh magazine in my hands and look at it over and over again.

Eric and Joy Pearcy said...

Those stamps are too cute!! And I have heard that issue of the mag is very inspiring!! Hope I win one of them:)

I love these stamps! I'm just gathering supplies to redo my parents' original wedding album and these would be perfect.

I like the green factor of an e magazine, but I really like holding one in my hand or having one to stuff in my purse for in between times(car pool, dentist appts, etc).

That stamp set is awesome! I just peeked at the magazine online and I am going to have to go buy it now (that is, if I don't win it here!)

Jackie said...

Thanks for sharing the link to this magazine! I love to have copies of my favourite magazines, I like to mark pages and go back and flip through them.I prefer not to be tied to my computer.

Cynthia B. said...

I discovered the link for this mag download on another site and was so impressed! I LOVE the idea of making online versions of mags available. If I really want to print a certain page out for inspiration, I can just print out the one page (on recycled paper, even!) And - I don't have an iPod or one of those fancy gizmos, but my sister and I were just talking about how convenient it would be just to download the mag and look through it while waiting for our kids (soccer, karate, dance...um, yeah - we do a lot of waiting!).
Thanks for the chance to win - best wishes to Kim - so much talent!

Love learning about new to me products! The magazine and stamp set both look awesome! I prefer getting my magazines out of the mailbox and reading them cover to cover as opposed to reading them online. Thanks for your terrific site.

Woohoo! Congrats to Kim! While I'm all for recycling and saving trees, there is something about having a magazine in my hands that I can look through over and over, wherever I am. I save all my crafting magazine for inspiration!

Ashley said...

I am a huge fan of Kim's and I met her this last CHA! Anywho, I personally like the flipping through pages at my fingertips type of magazine.

Tania said...

Id love to own these stamps, i got married last saturday! and have a ton of pics to scrap!

AngMomof3 said...

Wow! Amazing, Kim-arific products!

I have to say, I love my computer, but still HIGHLY prefer a printed, in my hands magazine to paruse. There's something so special about a freshly printed and unopened magazine...

Erica said...

As green as I get when it comes to magazines is that I pass them along to someone else to read, or recycle them after a couple of years.

Those stamps are Kim-tastic...I adore the couple sillouette, I think it would adorn a whole heck of a lot of cards over the years.

AmyT said...

Love the stamps, who doesn't love stamps! I do like the fact that the mag does both. But I still "need" the magazine in my hands. I'm a paper smeller :D

Sammie said...

While I love getting magazines in my mailbox, I like the fact that downloads are 'green' and I especially love when they are free! I'm sad to hear that Kim is leaving CHF, but looking forward to what she will be up to in the future.

Scrapycandy said...

I'm fascinated with this magazine but the fact it is online really helps my organizational abilities...I can never find anything in this house! I am organizationally challenged! LOL!

H. said...

I like to have both versions-- perhaps it would help me not keep all of my magazines! But there's nothing like having it to look through and leave out on the crafting table for inspiration.

Tara said...

While I like the 'green' idea of the magazines available online (not to mention the storage space that would free up!), I like to page through the magazines and tear stuff out and dog ear favourite pages... that, and the fact that, for now, page loading still takes far too long to satisfy my instant gratification need! Thanks very much for the chance to win the great KH stamps!

sarahw said...

I am a magazine junkie! I love to sit down and read and rip out all the cool ideas. I get the digital thing but I would miss my monthly reads. :)

Leontine said...

Going green is good....but in the end, I like to sit on the couch or in the sun with my magazine. That reads nicer.

WOW! Love the stamps!!!! :)
Also looking forward to looking to this magazine, I've never heard of it before! I just love this site b/c of that ... it shows us all the fun goodies that we have been missing out on!!!

Veronica said...

LOVE, LOVE! the stamps! She is "FAN-TAB-U-LOSO!"
I also love the smell of new magazines! :( Sorry, but I pay all my bills on-line, so I need some "Luxury." Going to check it out on-line! Thanks Em!!

Jenn said...

I love that they are going green but flipping threw the pages of a magazine is fun

Nicole K/GothamGal said...

I'm helping with a wedding, so this would be great for invitations and greetings and such. I've been meaning to check out Cornish Heritage (and I LOVE Kim's designs--especially the owl), so this would be really cool.

Jenny said...

CUTE stamps! And although I love the green aspect of the magazine, I do like to have the actual paper copy too!

zuehlss said...

Yea, a new magazine! From the front cover it looks yummy. I will be downloading it to check it out but I really like the real thing best. It is so much nicer to curl up in a comfy chair or bed and read plus you can take a magazine anywhere.

Maria said...

What adorable stamps!

I love paper magazines - but I think it's great to have an online option. I find that storing my old mags is getting to be a problem so I think I may have to check this option out!

andyjay said...

I definitely have to have the paper version in my hot little hands! I'm very tactile. Besides, it gives me some quiet time in my own little world!

Sherry said...

That stamp set is absolutely adorable! Would love to own it. I don't have any stamps that are unmounted red rubber, just mounted rubber à la Stampin' Up and acrylic. Would love to try them! As for magazines, I like to hold them in my hand and spend hours pouring over their pages...drooling over pretty new paper, gadgets, etc. I just checked out this magazine online and LOVE IT!!! Can't believe I've never seen it before. The great thing about being able to download it is that you can read it on your computer at work and still look like you're working!!!

Heidi Y said...

GREAT prizes!! I like the thought of a mag going green, but I do like to hold & read my scrap mag articles anywhere, anytime. Laptops can still be a little hefty :) I'll still buy them.

dina_cpa said...

I love having an actual magazine to read in bed at night or browse at my leisure wherever I am. I spend lots of time online browsing through blogs and other fun sites, but sometimes it is nice to just relax on the couch or bed without being hooked up to my computer.

Christine said...

If it's free, I prefer the download. But . . . I really do like holding a magazine (especially in bed) and turning each page and looking at each card closely. They a few weeks later, I mark the pages of the cards that I really love.

Blessings,
Christine

I am a big fan of Kim (have been a loyal blog reader for quite some time)but oddly enough have never bought one of her stamp sets! I have never gotten around to ordering from CHF... Always love the mag though, and I think that both options are great (paper and online) but I see that only last ing for awhile due to costs of printing going up if lots of people are getting theirs online instead...

Those stamps are gorgeous! Love them! I would never complain about a free downloadable magazine but yes, there is something wonderful about having a paper copy to drag everywhere with you - because you never know when you'll have a few minutes to read!

JennV said...

Wow these stamps look awesome. She is truly an artist! I would love to win! ;)

Those stamps are so cute and perfect, I am finally going to start my wedding album after 14.5 years LOL!
I love being able to view SCT online (I can sneak a look while at work).

I love the idea of a downloadable magazine. It would sure cut down on clutter and I could save my favorite parts to my computer and get rid of the rest.

I have also been a fan of Kim's work for quite awhile. We served on a DT together a long time ago. Her work has always been inspiring!

Okay, so how stinkin' cute are those stamps?!?! Love 'em!
As for the Mags, I like both. I love to be able to hold and read a mag and mark my fave pages, but also like the convience of online ones, too.

Rhayne said...

I love love love receiving magazines in my inbox. Not only for the "green" factor but because I have a hard enough time fighting off clutter. I don't need another addition. And just because I want in my inbox doesn't mean I want it free. I'll happily pay for quality reading.

I love it when magazines offer both a paper and digital version of the magazine! One magazine does the same thing here in Australia. It's great if you are new to the magazine and want to check it out without having to buy the paper version. Also great if you live overseas and don't have access to the paper version. It's definitely got my vote! :)

Jenn said...

The stamp set is really cute! I am very "green"(as in new) when it comes to scrappin' and haven't gotten into stamping yet. As for the ability to purchase either a paper copy or electronic copy of a magazine is a great idea & very environmentally conscience--even better would be printing the magazine on recycled paper. :O) As for me, I would prefer the paper copy of the magazine to flip through. What can I say, I love paper!!

Rebecca said...

I am torn...I enjoy being able to reference material offline so I like magazines. But it seems there are so many additional resources online, so they are quite helpful. If I had to choose one I'd pick online, but I sure do enjoy curling up with a good magazine on a rainy day.

Erika M. said...

I love Kim Hughes. I would definitely be interested in online versions of magazines instead of paper copies.

Robin said...

I love Kim's designs - She has an awesome blog too. I like that the magazine comes in download form easier to access and I can print just what I want.

Nathalie said...

I love S&CT!! I love the fact that I can read it without having to go anywhere or spend any $! I have never seen it IRL though! I am also a regular on their blog!

Kim said...

Those are THE cutest stamps! But the magazine is great! I love the green factor, but I'm touchy-feely when it comes to scrapping. I love flipping through pages & marking the LOs I'd like to try!

jax67 said...

Thank you SOOOOOO much for the magazine tip! I can't believe I've never even heard of the magazine and all of their back issues are free for download. How cool is that!?? Actually, I prefer the green way. Looking at it on the screen is just fine with me! :D THANKYOUUUUU AGAIN!!! :D You made my day!

barb in richmond said...

Having both a digital and paper version of a magazine is awesome. However, if I had to choose one over the other I would pick the paper version so that I could cut, paste and file my favorite pictures with the original color intact.

StampingJan said...

Hello- The wedding stamps are adorable. You could use several stamps for more than just wedding too- I love that.
I'm very intrigued by the free mag. download. I will definately check it out since I have not yet seen that particular issue. I am unsure if I would be content with a download only option. I love to curl up on the couch with a cup of coffee and my craft magazine and dog-ear the pages I want to come back to, etc. I know that is not particularly "green" though.

JoLynn said...

I love Kim's stamp images! They flow so nicely. Nice clean curves and definitely a signature style. She's one of my favs. I hope this move is a good one for her.

I am very excited about this magazine! I think my preference is a hardcopy, although I do a great deal of recycling of magazines after I have devoured what I want to save. I'll try the download and see how it works. Thanks for the heads up!

jill said...

Downloadable for free!?! Woot indeed. I like that idea, but I LOVE actual mags because I reference them often and can read them in the tub :) Love the wedding stamps, and am excited to check out this mag!

Debbie said...

The stamps are so cool. I do hope she designs somewhere else.

I downloaded the spring issue two days ago. I have really enjoyed the magazines. I really do not know which I like best. the green person says downloading is the future. I do read some newspapers on line. The old me says I like to go through the actual magazine and write on it, read it anywhere, etc. I am leaning toward the download but I do not see how they can keep giving it to us free.

that wedding cake is adorable!

As for the magazine, I am all about being green and all, but when it comes to magazines there's nothing like opening up the mailbox and seeing the latest issue in there waiting for me. I love to sit and have coffee in the morning ont he weekends with my scrapbooking magazines before the kids wake up. I also love to bring them to the beach and read under the umbrella. I can't give up the paper magazines.

Susan said...

I like the paper format. I save the copies and use little post its to tag the pages I love. I just love to hold a fresh, clean, untouched magazine. I will recycle or just hold on to it forever. But, I love to sit with a cup of tea and be inspired by all the images.

Leslie said...

I love the idea of a downloadable magazine, but I just love paper mags. Not so great for the environment, but I just love flipping through pages while I'm cuddled up in bed!

Ravengirl said...

Green is good, but you can't sit on the couch or the patio with it and a cup of coffee! And Wow, Kim's hand-drawn set! Would love to have that in my hot little hands!
