I was contacted by
Scrapbook & Cards Today when our article posted yesterday. They asked if it would be okay if we offered a free year's subscription to one of our readers. My answer? Ummm...
YEAH! Nobody loves a give-away like The Scrap Review!
Because they were so generous I decided to highlight the newest issue a bit more, because I truly was inspired. I'm gunna be honest. A few years back when I was first introduced to S&CT I thought it looked alright, but not yet up to par with the mainstream publications circulating at that time. In the past year I have completely changed my mind. Their issues are completely on par and in many ways surpasses other magazines (for my taste). And their website is easily navigated, filled with additional content and very useful.
Here were a few of my favorite articles and features. I do not have this paper issue, but I downloaded it online for viewing. And because I love you...I timed it. I have cable Internet and a moderately fast computer and it took 1 minute and 8 seconds. Not bad at all.

Right off the bat, early in the magazine, you will find an article on what's new and hip in the world of scrapping, written by the wonderful
Emily Pitts. One thing I love about this magazine is that their team is not all of one style of scrapping. Emily Pitts has long been one of my favorite sleek and simple scrappers. This article about journaling circles, tags and tear out pages inspired me to follow Emily's lead and create this layout, using multiple journaling spots on one page.

Some of the other things included in this issue are photography tips, card and layout sketches, tutorials on dry embossing, a 5 product challenge and also an article showing one layout made three ways...simple, intermediate and expert. I have seen this in another magazine a while back and I always loved it. Then it was gone. I was happy to find it in S&CT since I am usually a fairly simple scrapper and I sometimes want to add more and these step by steps show the process for adding to a layout to increase its visual interest.
And last, but not least, in fact it was my favorite thing in this issue, was this project on the last page by LEIGH PENNER....who I was unfamiliar with before, but will now be blog-stalking. A counting book made for a child out of die cuts. Genius! I will be busting out my Cricut and lifting this fabulous idea a.s.a.p. Seriously, how adorable is this?
To view the entire book you simply MUST click here. It is fabulous!

If you don't win the give-away you can click here to subscribe to Scrapbook & Cards Today. A seriously good magazine that I am growing more and more inspired by with each issue.
So, leave your comments on this post by midnight tonight EST. Please tell us which articles you love the most in scrapping magazines. Sketches? Tips and Techniques? New Product Spotlights? Or are you like me and love the Layout in three styles articles?
The winner of the Kim-Aways and this free subscription will be announced on the site on Sunday afternoon! Good luck!.

I love reading about techniques and tools in magazines.
I love the layout in three styles articles. I'm also fond of sketch articles.
I love all the technique articles. I have been scrapping for awhile, but didn't realize all the different things you could do. I love learning how to do something new and cool for my layouts!
I love reading about the current trends in scrapping and also the unique layout sketches that they offer. I also love tips on improving my pictures!
This was the first month I had looked at it online and I was really impressed. They had some awesome card ideas!
This magazine looks great! I'll be checking it out.
I have recently been tempted to subscribe because it is totally on par with other pubs in my opinion. And the price is right!!!!
I love the layout in 3 ways articles. I love to see what people come up with. It's such great inspiration.
I love seeing products used in ways I wouldn't think of. For example, I don't automatically think to cut die cuts. Seeing that done on a layout makes me want to "kick it up a notch" and be more creative with how I use my stuff.
I devour every magazine that is paper related & I haven't seen this one. Thanks for the heads up & the great review. (*fingers crossed*)
My favorite part is the spotlight on new products. We live hours away from every scrapbook or large chain store that the only way I can find the latest and greatest are in magazines and online.
Such good ideas! I'm so going to lift the months baby page (just a little behind on baby #4). I need ideas to inspire me and these look great!
This looks like a fun magazine! My favorite part about a magazine is new techniques and ideas.
I love a large variety of layouts in different styles AND tips and techniques. I think it's neat when mags show us new ideas for using old supplies or tools. It's nice to learn how to modify and make embellishments with some old tools and stuff.
i love all the layout samples and different ideas!!
ummm I love all the articles!! But if I had to choose I would say tips and techniques!
I hadn't heard about this magazine before. Since I'm a die-hard magazine junkie, I'm gonna have to take a look and possibly add to my list of subscriptions!
I had not heard of this magazine, so thank you for highlighting it for us. I love what I see so far. So, if I am not lucky enough to win, I will be subscribing to them!!!
Thanks again for the heads up on this mag.
Tina
That counting book is seriously cute! I have the supplies to make this sitting here right now! I think I'll go get started!!!
I love sketches, as well as tips and techniques. Love that mini book!
I love technique articles the best- especially with step by step instructions including pictures.
New Techniques and Products as well as sketches. But I like to see those sketches implemented. I guess that's just the way my brain works!
I'm not sure. I have only had one mag subscription before. I think I would like the sketches, though!
I love to just see how others use products. Sometimes it's simple things I hadn't thought of, and other times it's a detailed technique. I love to look at them over and over...
Oh man! I absorb everything! I'll use tips and techniques right away..but the sketches come in handy over time...and trends..well, how fun it is to read about it, dream about it! And I love this blog!!
My favorite part is the techniques highlights. Thanks so much for the chance to win.
The first thing I do when I get a new magazine is thumb through it and look for the sketches. Then I check out the new product spotlight...see if there is something new out there I can't live without!! I then look at the techniques and see if there is something I think I should try to incorporate in a current or upcoming project.
I think I love tips and techniques best. I'm fairly new to scrapping so I just want to absorb everything I can.
Blessings,
Christine
I really enjoyed the PDF file online - very nice of them to share! Would be wonderful to receive the hard copy, but budgets being what they are right now... Well, I can at least enjoy the pdf!!
Another great review! You ladies RAWK!! For me magazines are all about inspiration. My favorite thing is finding NEW artists to admire. I know that mags have design teams, but sorry to say, sometimes the work starts to look the same, or you can guess who created what layout. I like the new artists, I love technique tutorials as well!
Keep up the great work ladies!
Great review...that is a fab mag!
Well, I'm torn between the tutorials, the layouts and the new products. I would have to say layout ideas, since we all need a springboard in creativity at times.

I totally agree about the magazine, it's fantastic!
Any mag that hires Emily Pitts as a columnist is a sure-fire winner in my book :)
My favorite articles in magazines are sketches and layout ideas.
I'm a big fan of sketches in magazines since I can't think for myself lately ;) but I also love the layouts 3 ways! Yay for fun magazines! :)
I am a huge fan of technique articles. Especially on a LO that makes me say...how did they do that?
I love sketches! A blank page is so intimidating to me because I don't know where to start. Gimme a sketch, though, and I'm off and running!
I'm a magazine junkie! I can't pass a scrappin' mag at the grocery store and not buy it!
I tend to look at every layout or sketch, tag my fav, and later copy the ones I tagged! Honestly, I would buy a magazine if it was pictures only ... that's all I really need!:)
My favorite--looking at scraprooms. and by looking at the inspiration of-ali edwards.
I am a sketch junkie!!!!!!! But I also love seeing articles in mags that show off tools.
I've just gotta say I LOVE Sage's Counting book by Leigh Penner. I love to see sketches in magazines and how they are interpreted so differently. I also like the layous three ways!
I love to see mini-books and reader layouts.
Kim
I really love it when they spotlight new items. I'm always on the lookout for the newest and greatest. Of course, I also enjoy the tips & tricks, and the layout three ways articles as well!
Cool Magazine...thanks for the tip! I especially love seeing new products. Of course I enjoy all the tips, sketches and pages too but I really, really want to see what I need to add to my scrapbook stash.
I really love all kinds of articles, but my favorites are sketches and new product spotlights!
Love your articles!
I recently got hooked up with this great pub & totally love the diversity of it!! Awesome!!
You asked me what I like the most..... I love it all, sketches, tips and techniques, new product spotlights, everything what looks like scrapbooking!!
My two favorite crafts in one magazine--will definitely be checking this one out. Thanks!
I love sketches and examples of them! It's gotten to where I almost exclusively scrap from sketches now - saves me so much time, and for one who doesn't have a whole lot of time to scrap, that's key.
I really enjoyed reading this magazine online - great ideas, great design examples! I'm now one of their followers - would love to win a sub. from a mag that I hope is around a LONG time!
I've never seen this magazine before but it looks great! I like seeing lots of scrapbook LO's & getting ideas from there. Anything scrappy & I'm happy!
I also like the layouts three ways--it's so helpful!
I like to see tips on organizing supplies and I always buy magazines that feature the studios and craft rooms of stampers and scrapbookers!
Love this magazine! It provides a nice scope of talent from both Canada and the US. I have already downloaded some back issues to page thru!
I look for layouts first, followed by tips and techniques.
Awesome magazine. My favorite article was the one on the circles but to be honest it could have been all of them. The magazines blog is great to.
Thanks for the chance to win a year subscription.

This looks really good! I love technique articles especially new techniques with "old stuff"...(makes me feel I'm really getting my $$ worth out of those tools collecting dust...LOL)
That counting book is super cute! I love lots of layout ideas and little tips about how they made a particular item on their page. That's how I have learned so many little things.
I love sketches I use them all the time and get excited when I can get some new ones!
Love all of the techniques!!!
Love the ideas for pages and techniques!!
I really love new product highlights. Especially when they show how to use the products several different ways.
oh this looks like such a fun and inspirational magazine!!! I downloaded it and will be printing quite a few ideas for my stash ;-) usually I get the most from the techniques I find in magazines, but seeing the layouts helps me a great deal ... no matter how *easy* it's supposed to be to match colors, I just don't seem to have the knack - whenever I see color combinations on a layout, I get motivated to use them myself - thanks for sharing this wonderful new tool!!!
i just love to see lots of layouts that aren't DIGI.
The TIPS, for sure!
I love reading about new techniques and layout sketches.
I love the sketches and the LO's ---
My favorite articles focus on getting a lot of use out of my supplies. I love discovering new ways to use things I already have on hand!
I love when they show techinques. I also love when they showcase tools. I'm a total tool freak.
Thanks for the chance to win.
Great review! I love seeing the layouts that other scrappers create - they inspire me to go hit the scrap room and create myself. Also love to see new trends.

When you first reviewed this mag, I went right to their site & downloaded their most recent issue. I loved what I saw. Even though I was able to download it with no problem, I so like having the hard copy so I can look at it over & over again. The only downside was a subscription to the US was "free", but you needed to pay for shipping which was in the $20 range. Not bad, but this was only for 4 issues. So, I beg you to pick me to be the winner. I would love this mag on a regular basis. I also bookmarked their blog which is really good too. Thanks for the heads up about this magazine.
I definitely go for the layouts first. I love seeing what other scrappers have done. I also like the sketches, especially the ones for double page layouts.
I love anything to do with sketches and layouts. I like seeing how different people interpret sketches and how they design LOs differently given the same photos. Would love to win this prize!
Technique articles are my favorite. Someone is always coming up with a new technique that I haven't tried yet. And its great to see finished mini albums for a new perspective...

I Scrap So All Moments Are Remembered!!
Sketch articles are definitely my favorite, followed closely by those on tips & techniques. That counting book is adorable - what a great idea!
I love learning about new products and new techniques. It is just like taking a "mini-class" at home!
Love, love, love sketches. I also really like seeing different artists takes on a LO. Lots of photos on a LO are also a plus! I would love a new mag subscription to something I don't usually pick up!
I love this magazine! I would love ot have it in a paper format!
I have been fortunate to receive several issues of Scrapbook Cards & Today with my online scrapbooking orders. I covet these! So full of great ideas! While I'm pleased to receive the downloaded copy, having a hardcopy would make my day! Thank you for this kind offer.
I've never seen this magazine but I am totally going to go find it now. The digi download is great! I love the product challenges. It helps to keep me focused on just a couple of products vs pulling everything out. =)
I especially love new ideas to use products or tools we already have - - which is why I love the baby counting book that is featured! I actually found a few perfect materials and plan on making some for my nieces and nephews for their birthday presents. Thanks a bunch!!
I like reading about new tools and different ways to use them. I also love seeing various layouts.
I love seeing new products that are coming out and sketches!!!!
I love sketches, tips and Techniques the best but also love to see new products.
I've never seen this mag before! It's fabulous! Love the product reviews and that little counting book is darling!
I love to see new products/ranges used - it's always great to see them in action instead of just sitting on a shelf in the shop!
I would LOVE to check them out! Thanks for the review on this magazine!
Oh I love magazines and would love to win a years subscription so keeping my fingers crossed. EJ
my favourite articles are always the technique ones. They make me want to ignore my children and scrap all day
I love it when the mag.'s will still give us not just great ideas but also how-to's SO much better than some of the other publications out there that assume everyone knows everything and leave the "newbies" out of the loop. Refreshers are always good too! I'm going to have to look into this magazine!
emilie, thanks for the great review! i am honored that you would use my column as inspiration, your layout turned out great! :) just to let everyone know, the publisher and editor of this magazine are the best, i am really blessed to work with them and their team!
I like layouts the best... Thanks for the great giveaway, love your site!
I just love seeing lots of layouts by different people. Great for ideas & inspiration!
