Product Showcase: Unity Stamps & a giveaway

{Reported by Ashley Harris}

Many of you know of Unity Stamps I am sure. They began a few years back and came out with a different stamping system. They also have cling mount rubber stamps that are easy to use. That is what my article is on today. Shall we?

These stamps are pre-cut, un-mounted stamps on cling foam. They can be used with any acrylic block that you may already have. Once you have used the stamp you can store it in a cd case or in just the envelope that they are packaged in. If the stamp gets grungy and not so clingy, just rinse it off with water and that should solve the problem. This is the set that I used called Could I Be Any Cuter?

What I liked:

* The stamps are easily pulled out and mounted to my acrylic block.

What I disliked:
* I was unable to get a clear image unless I put my mouse pad underneath my paper while I stamped. Even then I still had the urge to press harder and the rubber on the outside of the image, if inked, would show up around my stamp. Very frustrating.

What I made:

Where and How Much:
Product: Could I Be Any Cuter?
Manufacturer: Unity Stamp Company
MSRP: Right now this set is only available wholesale
Available online: Again, not available for retail purchase. They do have other stamps available to purchase at their site.

Overall, they are pretty decent stamps, but I'm just not in love with them. They are not to my taste in images or style. That's okay. You may find that you do love them and they are all you ever wanted in style and images. Just not me.

What do you think? Let us know! Be sure to post a comment by noon EST on Thursday to be entered to win this set!

Here's an idea that may help solve some of your stamping issues with this type of stamp. Darice makes a RUBBER STAMP PAD that I think is the perfect surface for using with any stamp. It's a bit thicker than a mouse pad and it gives a bit under pressure for really good ink impressions even with the most detailed stamps. I seldom get extra inky prints. It comes in a sheet 11X17, but I've cut up a bunch of them--in fourths for my work at home and in eighths for classes I teach where we are working mostly on stamping images for card fronts and do not need as much of a padded surface. It is the perfect thing for those of us who sometimes have to work on folding tables or an irregular surfaced table top. Mine was $3.25 at my local stamp store. (product code 1103-05)
I hope this helps! Anne, yourmainestamper

I have not purchased or used any Unity stamps to date, but I know that they are very popular. The images are cute, and I have to say that you used them to perfection in your examples - I am always impressed by the uses others can come up with for stamps.

I am not the best stamper in the world, so I appreciate the tip that Anne left for us regarding the pad.

You just can't go wrong with Unity stamps - love them!

I have one set of Unity stamps and love them. I think they come up with some really cute designs!

I do think their images are cute, but sorry to hear that they don't always stamp cleanly. Thanks, Anne, for the information on the rubber stamp pad; I may have to check that out.

I have never played with any so I don't know if I would like them or not but the singing chicken is a cutie!

Vel said...

I'm glad you mentioned that about not getting a clear image with these because I'm having that issue lately with some of my clear stamps (not this brand) so it's nice to hear I'm not the only one frustrated by smudgy images. I just started using more rubber/wood stamps and it's amazing the difference in clarity. Still, I really like these images and would definitely be tempted to get them.

I was so happy to see this review as I have been eyeing the Unity stamps, but have yet to try them. They are so adorable and your cards are so cute! Thanks Anne for the information on the pad....this sounds like a solution that will keep me from being scared of trying different brands of stamps!

What adorable images!

Love Unity stamps! And, no matter what brand of stamps I use, I always have some sort of padding underneath to get a nice, clean image.

Adorable! I've heard of Unity, but have never used them! Would love to get a chance to win some to try them out! ;)

Pretty cute set, I could see alot of spring cards developing from it!

Sue McRae said...

This looks like a fun stamp set! Sorry you had problems stamping clean images but as a stamper I never stamp on a hard surface. I stamp on a stack of papers or magazines or a stamping foam mat like Anne mentioned. I always want to stamp on something that has give and is not ridgid.

I have been using UNITY for about six months--I never used a mouse pad with it...I love love love their stamps! I LOVE UNITY! They are great people and a great company! You did a great job on your three cards--totally going to use your idea for the tree:) TFS! HOPE I WIN:)

I really like this set as the images are fun and fairly versatile. I know that Unity uses several artists, so sometimes their stamps suit my style, other times they don't, but that's to be expected.

I am a fan of some of the stamp sets, have purchased a number of them, & this one is pretty darn cute!

To the rescue, I was searching for an Unity stamp called Love Bug this morning and found out that only 2 stores in Michigan carry them. Frustrating that I can't order it direct from them. I may have to decide whether it's worth it after your review

Jenn said...

I haven't had a problem with my Unity, but lately I think their style isn't quite mine. i DO LOVE the scrapbooking stamp kits though.

Jen said...

I've purchased Unity stamps for almost a year now...I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THEM! I have never had an issue with an image, though I stamp on a glasstop table. Unity has such a variety of stamps to choose from to meet all kinds of different styles...besides that, the company itself has such wonderful customer service!
And I do love what you did with these images...clean and simple looks fabulous! P.S. I would love to win this set! *wink*

I have been using Unity Stamps for close to a year and I love love love them!! I get the monthly kit which is a fabulous value! I love that they store easily too. I have never had any problems with the way they stamp in fact I have had lots of problems with "clear" stamps in the past so was a little nervous but these work great just like a rubber mounted wood stamp really - I do work on a good hard table and I think that does make a difference. L♥ve this set and appreciate the chance to win it!

I have not tried any products from Unity Stamps yet. I do like the tree image alot, not so sure about the others. I am sorry to hear about the difficulty stamping them. Thanks for the opportunity to win a free set.

Another Unity addict here! I have been using Unity stamps almost from the very beginning and I have never had any issues with my images coming out bad. Unity and {ippiy} have the best customer service and wonderful DT. Check out their store, blog and SCS forum and you'll see what I mean!

I am amazed that there was an issue with using these stamps! I love Unity Stamp Co. and their red rubber cling stamps! I have found that depending on how big the stamp is and which clear block I am using, I have to adjust to the pressure. Some people really like the thicker blocks, like what is being offered from SU now, while others like a thinner block. I have found that as long as I can hold onto the block, it all works great. I love your cards that you were able to make with that set! Adorable!

I've just acquired a couple sets of Unity Stamps. I've had no trouble with them. Not all their selections are to my taste, but many of the new ones they released at CHA are much different.

Too cute, I would love to win a set. Another idea to get the whole stamped image, CTMH stamp sets come with a piece of foam stuff to put unter the paper as you stamp. It always works for me. Thanks for a chance to win!

This is a cute set of stamps. Somewhere during one of my trips to a scrapbook store, I found a foam pad that is 12x12. I have never stamped without it since I added it to my stash.

I have not tried Unity Stamps....yet. I occasionally have issue with my clear stamps. I have several "Big N Juicy" multi colored ink pads, on the back of those there is foam pad. I have found, if I use this pad my stamped images are much nicer...I just always remember to use them.

I love the tree in this set and the sentiments.

I have one Unity stamp and I don't use it because I can not get a good image. It looks "double". I will have to try some of the tips mentioned here. I'd love to give them another chance. Thanks, Amy V.

These stamps are super cute! I am still mastering my technique and I find it doesn't matter who makes them sometimes I get a good clean image and sometimes not : (
I am getting better though.

Thanks for the review, Ashley. :) Adorable cards.

This stamp set has a ton of detail. From a manufacturing standpoint the rubber is the highest quality offered. Unity has been reviewed by some of the most talented people in the industry and come out with flying colors.

A good clear image is what Unity has established it's name on.

Here's to hoping that all the Beautiful Women of the crafting world are open to drawing their own conclusions involving Unity Stamps.

Oh those are adorable!! I love them!! Alot of stamp sets just take time to work with and figure out the best way to use them. I am not a huge stamper, I would like to be though. I could use that set for alot of different cards!! Thanks for the great review!

I think these stamps are super cute. I am not sure I would use their type of wood/clear block. I am not sure why there is wood on the clear block. But they are cute stamps.

I would LOVE to win these images, even though I designed that flower image, I LOVE the rest of these images and would LOVE to add them to my Unity/Ippity collection!!!

Tanis said...

First of all, if you pick me, pick someone else, cause I already have this set coming to me :)

I have LOADS of Unity Stamps and have never had a problem with them ever. And the great thing is, if they aren't trimmed to your liking, being cling stamps, they are SUPER SUPER easy to trim even closer to the image, so you won't get that shadow if you get ink on the edge.

I always stamp directly on my table, and they stamp like a dream every single time. Sure you need a firm hand, that's a given with any rubber stamp, as well as a quick gentle rock to get the best impression.

And sure, everyone has their own style, but that's why there are so many stamp companies out there. If you don't like one, you can find another. Part of the great big stampy world we are fortunate enough to live in :)

Deb said...

Such a cute set, would love to add it to my collection.

AJ said...

bummer you aren't getting a good impression Ashley- I wonder if it's the set itself- mine stamps just fine.

This particular set isn't yet available on the Unity website since it was just released at CHA, however, it can be purchased from a retailer who carries Unity.
:) love that butterfly card!!

I love Unity's stamps - I use a rubber stamp pad for all my stamping projects anyway. Unity has such great sets and great service - in fact, my collection is almost completely Unity. Sorry to hear you're not happy with them but happy you're giving someone else who will love them a crack at them.

*LOOOOVE* Unity stamps, and their new {ippity} line of stamps, too!

I've been stamping with Unity stamps for over a year now, and have never had the issues you mention in your write up. It could be that you got a defective set. Perhaps try another set and see if you still have the same issues.

Jenny said...

I have never tried Unity stamps, but an very excited about the chance to win some! I never thought to use a mouse pad for under my stamping!! What a great idea!

dahlhousedesigns said...

I use Unity all the time and rarely have trouble getting a good stamped image. Recently I noticed my craft mat was warped and it was causing me problems. But as long as I have a flat surface and a good inky stamp pad my images are always beautiful. I have a harder time with clear images and always us a little foam pad underneaths to get a better image. I hope I win your set!!! I'd be more than happy to have use it! :)

This stamp set is very imaginative and useful too. However, Unity does have a unique style and some of their stuff I love and some not so much. It tends towards the cute and I have teenage boys (not so cute per se). I'm doing grunge mostly except when I make a card for mom...she gets the cute stuff. Ha!
