The Girls' Paperie: Paper Girl and a give-away!

{Reported by Sharyn Tormanen}

If I'm going to be honest, I must confess that I'm not normally drawn to the softer palettes. Normally. If you happened upon me in a scrapbook store, there's a good chance that you'd find me in either the neutral or jewel tone aisles. Coincidentally though I have bought pastel lines before - both of which this particular line reminds me of. The first time I saw this Paper Girl line, it brought to mind both the old Sweet Pea line by Basic Grey and a bit of Art Warehouse but with it's own unique style. So you see, this line was meant for me by default! What luck!

What I liked:
1. I love the wide variety of numbers and letters, from the die cuts to the stickers to the chipboard, so many choices and possibilities.
2. The sticker market pad and the chipboard alphabet are a great deal for your dollar. There are a lot of pieces and versatility in those items in particular.
3. The mix of patterns and colors in this collection is absolutely delightfully perfect. There was a mix and a match for every option. Easy to work with.
4. The word stickers in the market pad are my new best friend. Two sheets (both the same) of just about every possible word one could think of. They work wonderfully for sentiments, making sentences, bullet points, memory triggers....*love* them.

What I didn't like:
1. Packaging/Durability. I'm not sure which is more at fault - the packaging or the durability, but when my package arrived, several of the Glitter Words and Glitter Quotes had separated from the jewel so I had to grab the flat nose pliers and do some reassembling.
2. I wished that the pink letters were darker or a different color. They fell into so many of the papers, making them hard to see/more effort to use.

What I made:

Meeting Friends layout

And Inspiration at 90 layout:

42 layout

and a few cards because I can never resist making a few cards

Where and How Much:
Product Name: Paper Girl
Manufacturer: The Girls' Paperie
MSRP: $0.89 - $9.99
Available Online: twopeasinabucket.com, live2scrapbook.com, scrapbook.com

What do you think?
Is this more to your palette taste or are you more of a bolder persuasion? Leave a comment by midnight EST on Tuesday to be entered to win a prize pack from The Girls' Paperie!

I love soft color palettes - that's just what I am drawn to. This new The Girls' Paperie collection is beautiful! I love the sample projects you made, especially those cards! I'm not much of a card maker, so I like to see what creativity comes from others. Beautiful!

My palette varies, it depends on my mood and the majority of the time, the pattern in the paper. I like bolder colors for my boys and the softer colors for my daughter. I don't prefer one over the other. The Girls Paperie papers are beautiful!

I usually like a little bit brighter colors but somehow these really appeal to me. I think the beautiful pattern designs draw me in and capture my attention...

I'm really drawn to almost any paper! I love this collection! I also like bold since I have a son! Thanks for a chance to win some of this beautiful line!

I think I really like the softer shades of this line. Very pretty.

There are some really pretty pieces to this line, but like Sharon, I am usually drawn to a more vibrant palette. Definitely could use bits and pieces in my scrapping, though.

What fabulous creations! I'd really like to try this line!

I love this line...definitely colors I use a lot!

HeatherH said...

I use some bold colours and some more pastel ones. I am not usually really drawn to pink. But this line is pretty and I do really like the idea of the sticker market pad with all the alphas and words etc. in it. Thanks for the chance!

I scrap for two sets of people ... my grandsons and the ranch. So when I first read the words 'soft' I thought they'd be girly. I could definitely see a few grandson layouts done using these papers. I'd also incorporate these papers into my what I call cowboy browns and soften my layouts into a sweeter cowgirl look.

I'm not one for softer palettes but after seeing The Girls Paperie papers in real life, I'm sold. They are very pretty,

It's cute. I probably don't gravitate toward that palette the most often but it's still very cute and I would like it for some things.

Those pinks are a lovely, soft shade but I am really drawn to those black stenciled stickers and the stickers you used to write the word love
(beautiful cards by the way!)

April said...

I like it. I'm a mommy of 2 girls so the softer pinks really draw me in. Plus I ink everything with brown and pink is perfect for that! ;)
Thanks for the chance to win!

While I love bright, primary colours for scrapping my kids, I love using softer colours for cards, baby and wedding projects. And I think your cards are lovely!

Leah the Orange said...

oooh, these pages and cards are LOVELY! i tend to prefer the bolder colours and louder patterns, this palette is great for the more sophisticated projects, and sometimes the occasion just calls for that. looks like you got a lot of mileage from this kit, and i'll bet there's still plenty left! :)

Vicki said...

I would say that the softer colors are not my favorite either but wow, I just love what you did with these papers. Definately a softer line I would buy, great projects.

TeenaBugg38 said...

Since I have boys this is not my first color choice....however I do have LOTS of vintage photos tht I think this would work beautifully with. And i absolutely love your LOs!

Love the colors on this! Yes, the pink does blend in with lots of backgrounds, but those larger black alphas/numbers nearly make up for it!!

Karyle said...

I have always liked The Girl's Paperie products and this line is perfect for me. I am drawn to softer pallets, I guess that comes for having all girls. I love the girly vintage feel of these papers. I have been looking for just the right paper for a page in my granddaughter's scrapbook about her great grandmother and
when I saw this line I knew I had found what I had been looking for. Thank you so much for the review and the chance to win.

Love the softer colors with black and white pictures. Lately I am so into black and white pictures. Cheaper to print at home! Also, who doesn't love PINK!

i love this line. oh the colors are just so yummy!

I am usually drawn to the brighter papers. Although I do have quite a stash of "pinks" (most of which aredance themed). I can see how the particular shade of pink in this line could be a bit more challenging to work with. Great layouts and cards!!

Christina said...

I love the delicate colors.

Christine Schmidt said...

I must confess....I'm a sucker for anything that's pink! Love the delicate flowers too!

Donna S. said...

I am usually attracted to richer colors, but these would be great to use for pages of my neices, who are 9 and 10 years old. I only have boys so i usually use darker or neutral colors.

These papers are pretty and pink and girly. That being said, I have boys and mostly scrapbook in blue and greens. But, for pages about ME, they would be great. Thanks for a chance to win.

It's definitely more girlish than boyish and I would probably use it for projects for my mom. Thanks for sharing!

I use both bold and soft colors for different things. I do love these products though! Thanks for the info on the alphabets, I will have to put those on my list.

Like you, I usually shy away from pastels and lighter color palettes, but these shabby chic patterns and colors are something I'd love to try. Thanks for the inspo in showing how well they work beyond "little girl" layouts.
