Tool Review: Teresa Collins Stampmaker and a GIVEAWAY!

{Reported by Ashley Harris}

The Teresa Collins Stampmaker by Photocentric has been creating a buzz ever since its release at CHA. It was a big deal and I knew it was something that needed to be reviewed. Funny thing is, Photocentric has their US base here in Phoenix. So they were kind enough to hand deliver it. Yes, I got to speak with Charlie. I just liked to listen to his British accent and try not to giggle when he said "jolly good", but I digress. So I got to play with this machine and here is the down low on it.

*Edited to add: Basically you print out an image negative or use the ones included in the kit. Take this image and a stamp pack of pink gel and put it in the magnetic box in the kit. You then put this in the UV ray housing for 3 minutes. After time is up, you take the gel pack and cut off the outsides. You can feel the stamp already, but it needs to be washed off and then immersed in water. Put the water container with the stamp in it in the UV housing again for 2 minutes. After the 2 minutes, take it out of the water, dry it off and trim. After you have trimmed your stamp, using double sided tape, you mount it to your block and stamp away!

Ease of Use: Okay I am not going to lie, it takes a little while to get the hang of it. When making your negative for a stamp, be sure to give it a good area of black around it. I would say about 1/2 an inch to be safe. However, once you get the hang of it, it is sooooo easy! Literally from start to finish, less than 10 minutes.

Construction/Durability: The durability is good. It is of good construction and, if taken care of properly, should last you a good long while. It remains to be seen how long your stamps will last, but from what I can see, it should be a while.

Usefulness: This is so great! Multi-functional is what I like! Makes stamps, stencils and embossing templates. I just focused on the stamp part of it for this article.

Cost effectiveness: I really think this is a great deal. For what you pay for the refills and such it comes out to be like $1 a stamp. Who doesn't like $1??!

What I liked:
- I liked that I can make basically whatever I want so long as there are no copyright infringements.
- I liked how easy it was. Just follow the directions.

- If done right, you get a super clean image, which for stamping is key!

- I especially like the size of it. You can store it on a shelf and only take it out when you want to play!

What I disliked:.

- I would have liked it better if it came with some sort of cling back. Right now you have to use double sided tap or the like to mount your stamp to your block.

- The timer on the machine does not work and you have to use your own timer. They tell you that in the instructions, so it isn't that big of a deal and I am sure they are working on that.

What I made:

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics; Stampmaker Kit; Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics; Patterned Paper: Jillibean Bean Soup; Stamp made with Teresa Collins Stampmaker Kit; Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, CTMH

Where and How Much

Product Name: Teresa Collins Stampmaker
Manufacturer: Photocentric Inc.
MSRP: $169.99
Available at: Scrapbook.com, *Live2Scrapbook.com and ScrapbooksnStickers.com

Bottom Line: I honestly love this machine! I can make whatever I want whenever. The refills are affordable so I don't feel like I am breaking the bank. So if you get the chance to get one, DO IT! There is a learning curve, but totally worth it.

What do YOU think? What are your thoughts? Do you think you could use this? Let us know!

Now for the give-away. You can win this machine but you have to work for your entry. Go to Photocentric's FB page, "like" them and leave a comment telling them you came from The Scrap Review. Then come back and comment here! Leave a comment by noon PST on Wednesday. Good luck!

Ashley, this looks like a great product. I wonder does it hook up to the computer to cut the image into a stamp. (Remember, I am totally out of the scrappy world these days, so if I'm asking an obvious question, forgive me! LOL)
I would love to win, of course, too. LOL hugs

I am not a stamper, but I have loved the idea of this machine from day 1!!!! I love the idea of making stamps for whatever I need, like different bases or squardrons that we have been involved in, Boy Scouts, or whatever other thing I like.
The thing that worries me is being able to find refills, I have yet to see the machine or refills in any local stores. This is something that I would like to see in person before making the investment.
