Crafty Secrets

{Reported by Bethany Kartchner}

I discovered Crafty Secrets products a few years ago in my local scrapbook store. To say that I went a little crazy that day and melted the credit card would be a serious understatement. If you like whimsical, vintage, sweet images, this company will have your heart all a flutter too.

Crafty Secrets produces quite a few different products including clear stamps, stickers, postcard sets, chipboard sets, journal pads and double-sided sheets with images (Creative Scraps). They also have many themed sets including women, beach, seasonal, baby, children, cooking, etc. You can take a look at all of their themes here.

I created the following video to introduce you to this amazing company.

Let me share a few still images of the products that I used in my projects.

What I like:
1. I love the variety of products available. From images printed on fabric to postcard packages, there is something for every project.
2.The quality of each product is unparalleled. Plus, those images are simply adorable! I love each one!
3.The stamps are really high quality with fine details that turn out beautifully. Initially, each set seems pricey, but not when you factor in quality and details as well as sheer volume. (You get quite a few stamps in each set.)

What I dislike:
1. I would prefer the Creative Scraps packs to be one sided. In order to take advantage of all of the images, you need to purchase two of them.
2. I find the Crafty Secrets' website to be difficult to maneuver. I can't see the product images well and I find that frustrating. I would also like to see more projects and layouts on their blog. They feature many gorgeous cards, but I'd like to see a bigger variety.
3. If you are want to quickly pop out die-cut images, you won't like this company. All of their products require quite a bit of fussy cutting. Personally, I have a good pair of scissors and I don't mind it, but if you are in a rush, you may not like snipping so much.

What I made:
I wanted to do something interesting with the postcard kit so I used one of the postcards in a sweet centerpiece perfect for a baby shower. (I'm always looking for cute baby shower ideas, aren't you?)

Materials: 3 white candles, tulle, ribbon, Crafty Secret Baby Boy Vintage Postcard Kit, Melissa Frances tinsel, Shimmerz Blingz, white eyelets

This is what the postcard looked like before I tied it to three white candles.

The back was stamped using the stamps that came in the kit and watercolored using pencils.

On the front of the postcard, I added a little Shimmerz Blingz and a few words snipped out of the background paper, but left the image basically alone.

You could use any of the Crafty Secrets postcard kits for this project. Or, you could back some of the larger images with heavy cardstock or chipboard for the same result. I'm loving this idea.

I also made four different layouts using Crafty Secret images as embellishments. (I just couldn't stop once I had started...)

Materials: Crafty Secrets School Time Stickers, Bazzill cardstock, DecoArt Sand Stones, Americana paints, American Crafts Thickers

I'm seriously in love with these cardstock-weight stickers! I backed them with black cardstock to help them pop more. They are a great weight, stand up well to inking and are very versatile.

(If you are interested in a quick video on how to make the faux stone background in First Day of Kindergarten, visit my blog.)

Next, I used the Crafty Secrets Creative Scraps and stamp sets to create I'm Here for You.
Materials: Crafty Secrets images and stamps, Bazzill cardstock, Stazon ink, fabric, machine and thread, Donna Salazar pattern paper, button, paperclay embellishments, American Crafts Thickers

A close-up shows Crafty Secret Banner stamps as well as a few quote strips and images from the Creative Scraps sets. I really like those quote strips.

In Sweet, I combined the texture of lace and muslin with the vintage images.

Materials:Crafty Secrets Creative Scraps and stamps, My Mind's Eye papers, Bazzill cardstock, lace, muslin, My Little Shoebox sticker letters, Shimmerz paints

The wings and crown are part of the Altered Fairies Creative Scraps. (My favorite one.)

Finally, I created What a Hoot using pieces of a journaling sheet, Creative Scraps images as well as many different clear stamps.

Materials: Crafty Secrets stamps, Journal notes and Creative Scraps, colored pencils, Americana Paints, Prima flower, StazOn ink pad

I stamped one of the banner stamps from the Artsy Banner set onto an old page and cut it out. The film strip and mouse stamps are from the Photo Studio set.

In conclusion, I would highly recommend Crafty Secrets products to anyone who likes a vintage look. They are not the least expensive products on the market, but they are very well made and quite unique. When you buy their products, you are buying quality and I like that. I think that their Journal Notes offer a good bang for your buck and if you are a stamper, you will absolutely love their stamp sets for their high quality.

I have not seen this line in person but it looks great for vintage photos. I also don't like when they print two different designs that can be cut out on both sides of the paper.

I am so happy I found this site. We have only one craft store here and it's really not the best. Because of that, I miss out on seeing some amazing products. Thank you for making the video. It really helped to see the products "up close".
