When I found out I would be reviewing Sticky Thumb adhesive, I paid their website a little visit. The company was started by two men – Tim and Trevor. I instantly felt a kinship with Tim (whom I have never met)…since we both have accounting backgrounds…and now we’ve happily found ourselves here in the scrapbook industry! :o) I also learned Sticky Thumb was founded on two basic principals. First: deliver a great quality product. Second: deliver that quality product at a price that is affordable. You've gotta love that!
I couldn’t wait to put my samples of Sticky Thumb to work!
What I liked:
- Sticky Thumb truly lives up to it’s name…it is very sticky – and very strong.
- The price IS affordable. When you use as much adhesive as we use, it’s nice to find a good one that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg!
- The runner is refillable – less waste, yay!
What I disliked:
- The foam tabs aren’t as thick as I usually like – but it’s easy to double or triple them up to get the dimension I want
- 8 yards gets used up pretty quickly, so more on a roll would be nice. I hate to complain too much though, because the refills are very affordable.
What I Made:
I decided I wasn’t going to “go easy” on this adhesive. I wanted to see what it could truly do. It did a great job adhering paper, cardstock, and photos…but for my review, I wanted to really put it to the test!
Spring Banner
My first test for this adhesive: adhering paper to canvas – passed with flying colors
Supplies: Canvas Banner Kit, Making Memories
The long-term test will be hanging it up and leaving it for a while to see what gravity will do to it…it’s been hanging up for 2 days and nothing has fallen off!
Binder w/ Tabs
The tabs are printed on cardstock and punched into circle shapes. I wanted to adhere the circles directly onto the plastic sheet protectors. I thought this would be another great test for this adhesive.
On the cover, I wanted to add a series of smaller circles underneath the title. The foam circles worked perfectly for this. They aren’t very thick, so it added just a subtle bit of dimension without adding bulk to the cover.
This is a project I just happened to be working on when the Sticky Thumb package arrived. These are binders for the young women in our church – they are meant to help them collect and save their handouts and other meaningful items they receive each Sunday during their lessons.
Supplies: various cardstock sheets
Adhesive: Sticky Thumb
Other: Sheet protectors
The tabs are printed on cardstock and punched into circle shapes. I wanted to adhere the circles directly onto the plastic sheet protectors. I thought this would be another great test for this adhesive.
Again, Sticky Thumb adhesive passed with flying colors – those tabs aren’t going anywhere!
“Happy Together”
card
I used both types of adhesive on this car as well – the runner and the foam squares.
I did want a little more dimension underneath the bunnies, so I doubled up the foam dots and they were perfect!
Supplies:
patterned papers: Making Memories
Die-cutting tools: Making Memories
Adhesive: Sticky Thumb
Science Fair Project Board
Perhaps the most grueling test of all was a project my cute (and very smart) daughter put together.
It's her display board for her science fair project. Meagan's project was amazing and she placed among the top entrants in her school, which allowed her to advance to the District competition. Her project did great there as well...but her board didn't fair so well. By the time the judging was over, a lot of her papers and photos had fallen off of her board. We tried several different types of adhesive (short of staples) and nothing was strong enough to hold. Sticky Thumb came to the rescue when she was preparing her board to go to the regional competition at BYU! She was able to attach everything, transport it to Provo, display it for several days, have several judges flipping through the papers and checking it all out...and nothing fell off the entire time! Yay for Sticky Thumb! (and yay for Meagan - she won an award at the regional level too!)

Bottom Line: Overall, I am very happy with this new brand. The adhesive is sticky and strong. Time will tell if it loses it’s stickiness…but I’m not expecting any problems.
I’ll definitely be using up my stash and then ordering more! J
What do you think? Have you used this adhesive? What’s your biggest dilemma as far as adhesives go? I’d love to hear what you think! Leave a comment by midnight EST on Tuesday to win a prize pack from Sticky Thumb!!

I have never seen or used this adhesive. I love the cost though! Thanks for a great review.
My biggest dilemma: getting an adhesive that will stick over time...
Thanks for a chance to win!
OH MY GOSH really it works on Canvas? GET OUT that is one of my dilemmas as I don't sew and always love to work w/fabric (go figure) its always a challenge trying to find adhesive that will really work w/ Canvas. Thanks for the chance!
Oh, I've never heard of this line. Is their adhesive forgiving? I mean, in the first few minutes can it be moved without tearing paper?
I prefer some kind of roll adhesive, but I hate it when they won't roll back in on themselves. Grrrr.
I've never heard of this adhesive. I mostly use my big gigantic ATG gun, but it would be nice to have something smaller for travel.
I have never heard of this brand of adhesive before. My biggest problem with adhesive is I like a lot on a roll, so I don't run out as quickly. Would love to give this product a try.
I have never seen this particular adhesive. I'm always on the lookout, though, for adhesives that will live up to my high expectations and few do. Would love to try this one! Your review was very convincing! Anne, yourmainestamper
I have never seen or heard of this adhesive. I am also on the lookout though for new adhesive. I just can't seem to find one that I can call my favorite.
I've never used this adhesive, but would love the chance to try it. Sounds like it could be a winner.
my biggest thing with glue, other than not holding, is when I get it in a place it is not supposed to be, removing it cleanly without running my piece of art.
Best regards,
Sandra
I am ALWAYS in the market for new adhesive. I really haven't found one that I swear by just yet. I've never heard of this one before - so I'd be excited to try it out sometime! Thanks for the review! :)
I think you use adhesive so much, that quality and price point are a hard combo to get, you buy SO much, you need it fairly affordable, but i am not willing to use cheap stuff, you know?
Good choice in picking Wendy Sue as your critic: I trust her based on her experience and longevity in the scrapbooking business.
So I'm now converted and would love to try Sticky Thumb Adhesive myself ... thanks for the chance to win!
What an informative review! Love that you used the adhesive on several different textures to really test it out! I have never heard of this brand before, but I will be sure to look for it now to test it out too!
I am a lumpy bumpy type of scrapbooker. I struggle all the time to find an adhesive that will keep my "finds" safely adhered to the page. I have resorted to using my hot glue gun on a number of occasions. bring on the new adhesive with a big sticky factor!
I would love to win this adhesive! I think the biggest problem with adhesives is that it always runs out:) I can never get enough!
Affordable adhesive? I didn't know it existed! I'm so excited. That's the problem I run into-- I find my best value adhesive just to look for it the next time around and it's either no longer made or the price has doubled. Adhesive is a non-negotiable in scrapping, we gotta have it. I'd love to win it!
I generally use my ATG for adhesive, but my kids are constantly asking to use it and mucking it up. My DD loves to scrapbook so we bought her a sticky thumb runner and pack of refills and it has worked out great!
Fabulous. Can u buy it in Australia?
I prefer a fine point to my runners, how was this one for fine detail?
I am also on the look out for a new adhesive. The one I use now is ok, but it doesn't always seem to stick like I think it should. Thanks for the review.
I have never heard of this adhesive....but my biggest problem is having the adhesive stick over time. Thanks so much for a chance to win!
I have not heard of this company before, thanks for the review! Love the example of your daughters project, a true test of adhesives for sure.
This is a new to me adhesive! Looks like it did very well! Awesome review!!
I've never heard of this product, but I always need good adhesive - thanks for the review and giveaway!
Congrats to your daughter for her science fair project. I've never heard of this brand, and would love to try it.
I LOVE your tests! They are great! Funny thing is my foam dimensional tape is really tall so I was just trying to find one that would give just a little bit of dimension for effect. This sounds perfect!
Thank you so much for sharing with us!
I've tried it and really like it! I love the name, too. :) Some adhesive I've used in the past has stopped sticking after a while!
I have seen this and wondered if it was a good product-thanks for the review-my biggest problem with adhesive is making sure the corners of papers on my cards stay stuck-sometimes even when I have adhesive completely covering the corners they still tend to come loose!
I need to try some of that foam adhesive - I like the fact that they are not thick. They will be great for layering without too much bulk - which is a must for cards!
Wendy, thank you for this very through review! I own several different types of adhesives and I use them each for various reasons (e.g. quick dry, strength, material, dimension). I have not tried this adhesive. My biggest dilemma is the cost of refills, since I use so many different types...it would be great to find ONE adhesive good for various materials and at an affordable price!
I have not seen this product. I like the best bang for my buck!! Like refillable dispensers.
I've never heard of Sticky Thumb. I used to use Glue Glider Pro but switched to ATG due to cost and amount of waste (plastic cartridge to throw away). Always love trying new companies though.
I've never heard of Sticky Thumb. Sounds like something we all need to have handy. I'd love to give this a try.
Great review, so thorough it was truly helpful. One thing you mentioned about the foam adhesive really interested me. I don't like a lot of dimension and I always have a hard time finding the thinner foam squares. I finally found that Stampin' Ups are just the right thickness for my taste so I stocked up. I don't order from them very often so I'm thrilled I have a new option to try. I'll definitely be looking for Sticky Thumb!
Looks really effective as you put it through the test of so many different materials. Thanks for introducing me to this new adhesive
Looks to be a very handy product! I typically just used double-sided tape when scrapping, but need something for small items.

Thanks for reviewing this adhesive. According to Megan's project is is a great adhesive. It is so difficult to find an adhesive which is great with all kinds of material. Would love to try this.
I'll have to look for this product. I'm always on the lookout for a great adhesive that doesn't let go over time and is affordable.
I have used this adhesive and I think it is great too. But, yes, I wish that there was more on a roll. It is reasonably priced but it doesn't go far, which doesn't really save you anything in the long run.
Great projects and I think this runner is great. I am a glue addict- so much hope to win some more glue
