Teresa Collins - Haunted Hallows

{reported by Noel Culbertson}

Teresa Collins' products have always had a soft spot in my heart. I love her graceful ladylike style with all the glamorous damasks a girl could ask for. The Haunted Hallows line has all of the feminine flair of the trademark Teresa Collins look, but with a bit of a bite. With skulls, poison labels, witches and wicked looking pumpkins there is a definite edge to the line. I tend to personally like Halloween lines a little on the softer (as opposed to scary) side. It took a little working to make projects without too many of the deadly elements. However even for the more dainty Halloween craft consumers, there was much to love in Haunted Hallows with polka dots, chandeliers, pumpkins, newsprint and spider webs.

What I liked:
1. The die-cut sheet was double-sided. Directional items faced opposite on the reverse (ie items facing right on the front of the sheet, faced left on the back) making each die-cut more functional.
2.The trims had a lot of variety yet were perfectly matched, in style and color, to the line.
3. The overall style of the Haunted Hallows line.

What I disliked:
1. The death-focus of some of the designs like poison labels and skulls.
2. The orange on the sticker sheet was slightly off from orange on the other elements. I'm guessing this is due partially to the sheen on the stickers. As long as the stickers are up against a solid orange sheet, the difference is not noticeable.

I definitely prefer the "sweet" Halloween stuff! Like Noel, I do not much prefer the poisen labels and skulls! Very cute though! andreaniemeier5@gmail.com

looks like a fun halloween line. I too do not use/enjoy the death inspired halloween stuff. I usually just work around it like you have.

I love that Teresa Collins always has a little elegance to every collection even if it is scary Halloween stuff. I like this one--I like a little scary but not too scary and a little cute but not too cutesy! Thanks!

I love Teresa Collins. I have to agree with you about the skulls. I'd rather the pretty with the cute not scary. But I love the gorgeous products i see. Definitely a line I would use.

Those are some very cute projects, and I love the pictures! I think that this year my little girl and I are going to dress up as Disney princesses :) TC always has the cutest lines and colors. I love that they are very feminine for the most part :)

I'm with you and don't care for the death emphasis of some lines. I really like when a line can go beyond just Halloween. For example some of the dots and damask patterns could be used for other things.

I like having a little mix of spooky and sweet - it totally depends on my mood!

I like the line, especially the workd papers. And I do like that Teresa Collins prints her die cuts on both sides of the paper.

I do not like lines that are too cutesy or too scary. A little skull here and there is not too scary for me. I like this collection. Your layouts and cards are great!

I don't care for sweet and cute Halloween designs so this is right up my alley. I like a collection that is more versatile...such as the dots and damask. I like to stretch my scrapbook dollars so a collection like this is more what I look for, rather than very theme specific kits.

Oh, I definitely prefer spooky over sweet!! Love backgrounds like spider webs, eerie houses, distressed and artsy bats and crows..and on and on! Also like a collection that can be used for other themes...and this one is a good one for that!

I love this line and how well everything coordinates - always a plus with Teresa Collins designs. I lean toward cute and sweet with my Halloween layouts but with 3 teenagers, sometimes a hint of scary is needed.

I'm not a big fan of the cutesy Halloween stuff but I'm also not lovin' all the death themed stuff. I like my Halloween kind of classy. :)

I like this line, but like you, I'm not a fan of too many skeletons or death-like symbols. I prefer the classy chic type of Halloween prints that are versatile. That's one of my favorite things about Teresa Collins' lines. Thanks so much for this great review!

Wow, what an enlightening post and surprising comments!

I've never thought of Halloween without the elements of death and skulls and ghoulishly wonderful apothecary labels! Such fun to me!

So, I love this line, and everything you created with it Noel! I never would have known it wasn't your favorite!

I like that this Teresa Collins line is a bit more elegant and classy than some of the typical cutesy lines. I also like the colors - I have yet to understand how all the purple got into the Halloween stuff.

suzeyq said...

I don't like cutesy sweet, I like a mixture of sweet and spooky!
