Creative Passion Classes Review

{By: Mandy Starner}

Creative Passion Classes is a website designed to push its students to dust off those supplies and get moving. They offer classes that range from art journaling, to digital scrapbooking. I chose to try out the Creations by Hand class, it looked like it covered a few different techniques that I am interested in learning more about.

I, like many scrappers and stampers out there, have a nice stash of Copic and sketch markers. My Copics have been collecting dust in their drawer for quite some time because I don't really know how to use them properly. This class, Creations by Hand,  taught by Michelle Houghton, available at Creative Passion Classes was just the spark I needed to dust off those Copics and begin to use them! Michelle taught me some tricks, I didn't know were possibe with these fascinating markers. She not only showed me some tips and tricks to try with my Copics, she also covered using sketch markers for doodling and letting go of that fear of your own handwriting.

What I liked:
-There were 5 different lessons in the class. That is 5 different techniques to try!
-The instructions were clear and easy to follow.
- The lessons involving a bit more instruction were in video format. I liked that a lot. I don't want to read and re-read and re-read again if I don't understand something. With a video I can see clearly what the instructor is talking about.

What I didn't like:
- I can't say that I really have any complaints about the class that I took. I learned a few things and it sparked a few ideas for future projects.

What I made:

Up, up, and away! card

I used the technique in lesson 3 to create the background for my card.

Supplies used: Cardstock- Georgia-Pacific, Markers- Copics(B00, B01, B02), Stamp- Studio Calico, Papers- American Crafts, Alphabet Stickers- BasicGrey

Good Times layout

For this layout, I used the technique in lesson 4 to color some seam binding.

Supplies used: Cardstock- American Crafts, Seam Binding- Hug Snug, Markers- Copic(B01, B02, YG03, YG05), Die cuts & Sticker- October Afternoon, Alphabet stickers- American Crafts, Wood stars- Studio Calico

Where and How Much:
Classes range from FREE to $90 for a bundle of classes
Where: CreativePassionClasses.com

Bottom Line: I enjoyed learning about coloring with Copics on different materials and I am looking forward to learning more. I have been eyeing the Copic classes they have available. I just might tackle that fear after all.

What do you think? Have you taken any classes from Creative Passion Classes? Did you enjoy it? Was it worth the money paid? Did you learn a lot? Or maybe you haven't heard of them but now, you are interested in checking them out? Let us know!
