X-Acto 12in Rotary trimmer

{Reported by Ashley Harris}

We are all on a quest.  A quest to find the perfect trimmer.  We have heard rumors that it does exist.  Maybe one day we will find it.  Maybe, sadly, we won't.  Today I have the X-Acto 12 in Rotary Trimmer to see if it cuts the mustard.  Here we go.

Ease of Use:
As far as trimmers go, this is your normal push-the-blade-down-to-trim-and-your-good type of trimmer.  Super easy.

Construction/Durability: For construction it is made well.  It is light weight but will last a good while.  No worries on that front.

Usefulness: It's a trimmer.  It trims paper.  That's it.  No bells and whistles, just the bare bones.  It only has replacement blades as far as blades go.  No fancy edged blades or anything of the like.

Cost effectiveness: With it retailing at $24.99, it is a fair price if it were accurate.

What I liked:
- I liked that it was lightweight and compact.  I can take it to a crop with me.
- I especially like that the blade was hidden for safety.  Always a plus for a mother with 5 kids!

What I disliked:
- The cuts were really hit and miss.  Once you would get a straight line and then next you wouldn't and that is HUGE.

What I made:

Supplies Cardstock: Bazzill - Patterned Paper: October Afternoon - Clear Stamp: Technique Tuesday

Where and How MuchProduct Name: Designer 12in Rotary Trimmer
Manufacturer: X-Acto
MSRP: $24.99
Available at: Amazon.com

Bottom Line:  In my opinion this is not a trimmer I would buy.  X-Acto makes a lot of great products, this just isn't one of the.   The quest continues...

What do YOU think? Let us know what you think!

I have this trimmer and you are SO right. It is very much hit or miss on cutting straight lines. Glad to know I'm not crazy and that it really is cutting crooked!! I have been waiting to buy a nice guillotine trimmer... may need to do that soon!

Thanks for giving an honest opinion. We are all on the search! I saw American Crafts has a new trimmer out and I'd love to see a review of it.

BTW this article isn't linked under Search by topic Trimmers/Cutting tools.
