Vinyl Starter Kit by Silhouette

{Review by Ashley Harris}

Alright so I finally broke down and bought a Silhouette Cameo.  Yes, I know.  Can I just say I am in love with this machine and all it can do!   I will do an in depth review on this later.  For today I am reviewing the Vinyl Starter kit by Silhouette.  So let's go!

The kit comes with the following:
- 4 different colors of vinyl: Black, white, dark pink and leaf green.
- roll of transfer paper
- hook tool
- scraper
- instructional dvd
- download card with 10 free designs
- idea book

What I liked:
- The ease of use.  I literally just cut my image, weeded the vinyl and applied to my project.
- The hook tool I found to be indispensable!   What a treasure!
- I think it is a great value for what you are getting.

What I didn't like:
- The black vinyl caused me great trouble over the other colors.  I have no idea why.  Maybe it was user error.

What I made:

Supplies: Cameo Machine, Vinyl Starter Kit, Scalloped Oval #16345, Happy Haunting Phrase #21488

Where and How Much:
Product: Vinyl Starter Kit
Manufacturer:  Silhouette America
MSRP: $39.99
Available Online: Silhouette America,  Scrapbook.com, Overstock.com,

Bottom Line:
If you are just starting out or just want to do a few small projects, this kit is for you!  I highly recommend it.  SO go, do, cut vinyl!!

What do you think?  Are you interested in vinyl for decor, labeling, etc?   Leave a comment by midnight EST on Thursday to be entered to win the Vinyl Starter Kit!  U.S. residents only.  Please leave a way to contact you.   Good luck!!

Silhouette vinyl is great fun. I've only worked with a couple of colors, but I love it. I need the weeding hook, though. I've been using straight pins instead for the detailed stuff.

Have been wanting to try some vinyl projects with my Cricut. Weird about the black causing you grief - maybe just a fluke!
Thanks for the chance.

Sounds like fun! I have been a little afraid to try vinyl but it would be less intimidating if I had some to try without spending a lot of money! Thanks for a chance to do just that...

I love using vinyl for decorating because it's forgiving and can be changed out easily!

I have been using my original Silhouette to complete almost every layout I do since I received it in 2008. I love it and can't scrap without it. However, I am intimidated by cutting vinyl with it for some reason. The starter kit, with the instructions and idea book, would be a great way to get past that feeling! Thanks for the giveaway. :-)
