My Mind's Eye - The Sweetest Thing

{reported by Daniela Dobson}

Today I will review this The Sweetest Thing Collection by My Mind's Eye. Within this collection there are four different sets. Tangerine, Bluebell, Lavender and Honey. 6 x 6 paper collections (not pictured).

Ease of Use:   It was really easy to use, for sure. I made four projects. I tried to keep each collection separate, but I have to tell you that I like to mix things up. These four sets work so well together.  The colors, embellishments and themes  matched from collection to collection so you can mix and match. Love that! I am not the one to buy a whole collection. I would pick my favorite patterned papers, embellishments and stamps and they would all work together.

Construction/Durability:  My Mind's Eye offers beautiful cardstock quality double sided textured patterned paper with a range of embellishments that coordinate wonderfully. The adhesive is really strong on all the stickers and chipboard elements. I had to pull one or two off, and it was tough. I got a great image impression with the stamps using a variety of different inks. Decorative tape is easy to tear and comes off easily after it's been applied to paper.

Usefulness: this collection is perfect for a variety of projects. Layouts, of course, but perfect for card makers as well. Stickers, embellishments and stamps include sentiments perfect for cards.

What I liked:
Pretty much everything. I love stamps, so those are my favorite. I like that the colors coordinate throughout all four sets in this collection. I can use these collections for a boy or a girl layout and the embellishments/words coordinate. It was my first time using Enamel Dots, and those are really fun!!!  I would love to see them in other shapes (stars).

What I disliked: There are lots of flowers in this collection. Patterned paper, stickers, embellishments  chipboard elements, stamps.... I love flowers, and used them  in my projects. I don't even mind using a flower or two on a boy layout. However, as I was creating my layouts I was wishing that there was a star in there somewhere. I was looking for a star. A star brad, star sticker, star chipboard button, stars on decorative tape....I did find one (see last layout). It was a center to one of the stamps. I inked only the star portion and stamped it on my layout.

What I made:

Supplies: My Mind's Eye - The Sweetest Thing - Honey, The Sweetest Thing -  Tangerine (butterfly), The Sweetest Thing -  Bluebell (brad and stamps). Clearsnap Ink, Therm O Web Adhesive.

Supplies: My Mind's Eye - The Sweetest Thing - Tangerine, The Sweetest Thing -  Lavender (Crocheted doily)  Clearsnap Ink, Therm O Web Adhesive.

Supplies: My Mind's Eye - The Sweetest Thing - Lavender, The Sweetest Thing - Bluebell (stamps, decorative tape), Memories Indie Chic Twine. Clearsnap Ink, Therm O Web Adhesive, Laina Lamb Hearts 4 U digital file (hearts), Silhouette Cameo.

Supplies: My Mind's Eye - The Sweetest Thing - Bluebell, The Sweetest Thing - Lavender (stamps). Clearsnap Ink, Therm O Web Adhesive. Faber Castell PITT Artist Pen,  Heidi Swapp digital kit - Days of the week, Chevron - Daniela Dobson, Silhouette Cameo, Sewing machine.

I really like these collections, but you are right about the florals. There is a lot of it and not enough of the other shapes. But I do love their chipboard/wood buttons!

I agree with you that MME collections may look overwhelming. There is so much of everything! I do love this one. I received few papers, one sticker sheet and the enamel dots in Jenni Bowlin kit and I LOVED working with them! I really want more now :)

You have done some wonderful projects with this paper! I really enjoy MME and like to pair it with some solids from other lines.

I like that you said that you could mix and match these collections. I wish more companies would do this. It would give more of a life extension to what you buy to scrap book with.

I really love MME; it's one of my favorite manufacturers. I tend to use only a little bit of it at a time, in combination with solid cardstock or other subtle patterns (but maybe that's just my style anyway). I think their patterns are just beautiful, and when used sparingly, the beauty shows and doesn't overwhelm the photo+story.

I really like these collections, but I have two daughters and I can see how it would be more challenging for boys, especially ones that aren't little. I like flowers in moderation, but I LOVE doilies, and MME does doilies well!

My mind's eye is one of my favorites. I always love the patterns of the paper. I do agree that I would love to see more usable boy embellishments.

I love MME, and I love that I can mix and match their patterns - they are fun and not too theme-y

I've not used this collection at all and I definitely enjoy when a collection is well-done and can be used for projects for the important guys in my life. I guess I might get around it by creating my own embellishments by die-cutting the patterned papers as long as they aren't too floral to look good in a star shape...
Thanks for insightful review and wonderful projects!!!

I just love MME, especially the papers and stamps. Your projects are amazing and really show off the collection! What a clever idea to use the star center of a stamp to get the design you want. This collection is just yummy!

It's always amazing to me how large the MME collections are. I mean, that's great that you have so MUCH in one line, but then again it is a little overwhelming, and I often don't mix and match lines, so deciding on which items from MME can be a bit daunting. Great point about needing a star! I believe the things I've crafted with their products tend to be more feminine.
That said - I can't speak to their stamps, but the quality of all of their papers and embellishments is top-notch. Love the thickness of their papers. Thanks for this review, and thanks for the chance to win!

All the collections are beautiful, but I have to agree the floral motif gets kind of old after awhile. The colors look gorgeous. Thanks for the chance to win.

I love MME and this collection is one of my favorites!!! Your projects are gorgeous!!!

Oh my gosh! I love this line! Tiny prints and soft colors are always glorious to my eyes. I think the projects made are totally adorable too. I wouldn't have guessed that you struggled with all the flowers. Seriously, they are great projects and I didn't think they were too flowery. You managed the other prints really beautifully. :) This may have to be added to my "hurry up and get it because I have to have it, then hide it in my stash so hubby won't see it" list. Haha!
