Hunk Punky Mixed Media Album from Punky Sprouts

{Reported by Becky Williams}

For today's review I got to create using the Hunk Punky Mixed Media Mini Album from Punky Sprouts. I don't often create minis and so felt the challenge immediately when I received it in the mail. I wasn't sure if I'd use it as-is or break it down to use on a scrapbook layout and/or card. I ended up taking the challenge to use it as it was and was pretty pleased with the result. Granted, there are many more beautiful mini albums than mine but I am okay with that.

I received the Hunk Punky(gotta love that name, ha ha) mixed media album:

the Funky Punky Fiber Pack with denim accents (there is another one with canvas trims):

Ease of Use: While i am very often intimidated by mini albums- they tend to sit on my shelf undone unless I HAVE to do one for an assignment such as this, it was easy to do and came together relatively quickly.

Construction/Durability: very durable. The covers are thicker corrugated material (like a heavy duty box) instead of just chipboard so they should hold up well. The inner dividers are thick chipboard which are also quite sturdy.

Usefulness: It's great! I will use this as a sort of "December Daily" for this year.

Cost effectiveness: I think it's fine considering the mix of products you receive in the mini.

What I liked:
- the mixed media format. Many minis are only chipboard while this one also included the cardboard, denim and an acrylic page as well.
- the size is perfect for putting 4x6 photos right into the album.
- I really liked the denim accents and thought that they were fun to use on this album.

What I didn't like:
-It looks like they may be hard to find unless you purchase straight from the manufacturer.
-I didn't use the denim "page" included in the album. I wasn't sure what to do with it so I'll save it for a future project.

What I made:

Some of the inside pages:

I used the denim strips to make this ruffled page on the acrylic insert:

and used more denim as an accent on this little pocket page:

Supplies: Punky Sprouts mini album and denim accents, papers from Lily Bee, American Crafts and Jillibean Soup, alphas from Jillibean Soup and October Afternoon, Silhouette Studio cut files for my Cameo, tapes from My MInd's Eye.
