Lifestyle Crafts Evolution Manual Die Cutting Machine & a Giveaway!!

{Reported by Ashley Harris}

When I went to CHA this past winter, I stopped by the Lifestyle Crafts booth.  They were demo-ing their new tool the Evolution.  I was super happy when they let me review it !  So here goes.

Ease of Use: This machine is a breeze to use.   Right out of the box all you have to do is attach the crank with an Allen wrench that is provided.  It is very smooth when turning the crank.  I don't feel like I am breaking anything.

Construction/Durability: It is very well made and is pretty durable.  It is light weight so it can be taken with you to crops and such.

Usefulness: This is a pretty useful machine.  It is obviously mainly a manual die cutting machine, but can be used for embossing folders and also letter press when used with the letter press set up.

Cost effectiveness:  The price point on this is $119.99.  I feel this is very competitive give the market for die cutting machines.   You will definitely get your money's worth.

What I liked:

- I liked the ease of use.  Just like buttah baby.
- I liked that you could basically start die cutting straight out of the box.  Just put the crank on that takes 2 minutes and you're golden.
- I love that it can be used for letterpress as well.

What I disliked:
- Honestly there wasn't anything I didn't like about it.

I have the orginal sizzix machine with the big handle... crazy heavy. Does that count as a die cutting machine anymore?

This looks so cool! I don't have a manual machine, but it is on my wish list as there are times I know that manual is better than electronic :)

I have a Vagabond, which I love, although I have considered getting a manual one just for the ease of having it not near an outlet for when I'm crafting not in my regular space.

I've never used a manual die cutting machine, but this looks very interesting & useful!

I have a Cuttlebug but I'd like something a bit wider.

I got a Cuttlebug for Christmas last year and I'm pretty happy with it. I've been meaning to buy the longer plates, but haven't yet. I'm glad, because the Genius platforms seem much better than the original ones.

I love die cutting machines and I think the manual ones have less working parts that you have to worry about breaking. This one looks really nice! Sew7752@aol.com

I have a Big Shot that I really like and while I don't use it frequently, am very happy to have when I need it. The funny thing is that I won a Vagabond a while back but I've never used it- I like my hand crank Big Shot so much.

I don't have a manual die cutting machine although I love my Cameo. There are times that I wish I had a manual so I could use all those sweet stamp-die combinations that are hitting the market!

I have a Cuttlebug which is great, but is limited in the size of dies that you can use with it. This one looks really nice!!!

This looks fantastic! I could really use a new die cutting machine! I just have not been able to commit to the investment.
Several years ago I pre-ordered the Epic 6 and after several uses became really disappointed! I loved the idea it would work with tons of other companies dies and embossing folders, plus the Letterpress. I have never even tried my Letterpress because of my disappointment with it. After time the thin mat used with dies like Spellbinders or from Papertrey, it curled and eventually snapped in half. Yes I was able to use it a bunch, but the problem is I have a $100 machine that I can't replace that mat. Apparently there was a problem with production and they made 2 different thickness mats. I need the thinner one.
Watching your video it looks like the kinks have been worked out with this new model. If you have a thicker die like a Sizzix Big Z, I'd love to see you use it too! And I totally love the idea of a magnetic platform!
Thanks for the opportunity!
Kindest regards,
Jennifer

I have a Cuttlebug and use it for embossing only. When I used it for die cutting, I got the creaking noise like something was going to crack, so it would be great to have a machine that can do it all and is compatible with all of my embossing folders! Thanks for the chance to win!

Thank you for sharing! I was unaware of this particular machine. I have a Big Shot and it has broken TWICE, and even though it was under warranty both times, the manufacturer still charged me for the parts to fix it. Frustrating.

I have a Cuttlebug but its so old and worn out and creaks and groans so bad. I'd love to win this! Thanks so much for the chance to win.

I do not have any type of embossing/die cutting machine. THis looks like one that would be good to own.

I have a cuttlebug and I like using it but I am thinking about getting platforms that would allow me to do the longer cutting for borders and such. I really like having this for embossing and some of the simple cutting as well. I also like being able to use materials in this that I can't use in electronic machines.

I have a Big Shot, but to be honest I find the "sandwiches" confusing to figure out and as a result I don't use it as often as I would like to. My other problem is I don't own a lot of dies and cannot afford them. I love the idea of die cutting and the Evolution looks super easy to use. Thanks for reviewing it for is. I also check with The Scrap Review because I know I can trust what you say.

I have a Big Shot that I love, haven't had any problems with it yet. Really love the idea of the magnetic mats! Thanks for the video review!

I have a cuttlebug and have been looking for a magnetic platform! Would make it so much easier to precisely place all those thin dies.

I finally broke down and bought a Big Shot last year and I love using it! I would LOVE to win the platform to make my die cutting easier and more versatile. Thanks so much for the review and chance to win.

I love dies so I love die cutting machines.! But I would love to be able to cut with a machine that cuts like buttah!

I have a Sizzix Big Shot that I love and these magnetic platforms would be so handy to have with those small metallic dies! Thanks for the chance to win.
